Dr. Annie Notarangelo
Associate Veterinarian
DVM
Hi, my name is Dr. Notarangelo, and I am a DVM at Everhart Veterinary Cross Keys. I am passionate about providing high-quality care and helping my patients feel comfortable and confident in their treatment.
Personal Hobbies and Interests
Outside of work, I enjoy gardening, traveling, kayaking, house projects, and spending time with my high school sweetheart husband, our two teenaged children, and our pets. We collectively spoil a shy long-haired gray cat named Rocky who adores mittens, a spicy brown tabby named Poppy who enjoys lettuce, a spunky mutt named Piper who must chase the deer, a trouble-making tuxedo named Newt who loves snacks and string toys, and a young orange Maine Coon named Killarney who loves catching bugs and wrestling with Newt.
Favorite Part of My Job
I enjoy putting the puzzle pieces together and solving the mystery that is often involved with complex cases. These cases often involve regular follow-up and management, and I love getting to know the animals and their families as I help them care for their pets.
Why I Chose This Profession
I'm a Baltimore native and I grew up with a passion for science and animals. It's probably no surprise that I had a menagerie of pets growing up, including cats, rabbits, hamsters, fish, and turtles, but I didn't realize I wanted to pursue veterinary medicine until college. I love animals, science, and healing, so veterinary medicine was the perfect fit. I also love that in this field you not only help animals but also the people who love them.
Education
I completed my undergraduate studies at Virginia Tech from 1999 to 2003, earning a Bachelor of Science in biology. I then received my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007.
Professional Background
Over the years, I have developed an enthusiasm for internal medicine, endocrinology, and urology. I'll admit that those focused areas present the specific challenges that keep my compassion thriving and my fascination with the field at its maximum.
I practice Fear Free medicine, which allows me to care for my patients with consideration for the fear, anxiety, and stress that often accompany veterinary visits for many animals. I am a Level 3 Certified Fear Free Professional and a Cat Friendly Veterinarian, and I helped the Cross Keys location earn its Fear Free Practice Certification and Cat Friendly Practice GOLD status.
I have been a Cat Friendly Veterinarian since June 2021 and a Fear Free Professional since October 2021, currently at Level 3, with plans to reach elite status by the end of the summer. I was also a finalist for Baltimore Magazine's Best Veterinarian in 2025.
Memberships
I am a member of the Feline Veterinary Medical Association, Fear Free Certified Professionals, and the American Veterinary Medical Association.
Work History
After veterinary school, I returned to Baltimore to be closer to family and now reside near Hunt Valley. I have been one of Everhart Veterinary's Associate Veterinarians since 2007, nearly two decades. I initially joined the Everhart family at our Brooklyn location and have recently transitioned to full time at the Cross Keys location.
