Hi, my name is Dr. Ellen Baumler, and I am a DVM at Everhart Veterinary Medicine. I am passionate about providing high-quality care and helping my patients feel comfortable and confident in their treatment.
Personal Hobbies and Interests
Outside of work, I enjoy reading, visiting restaurants and local wineries and breweries, horseback riding, running, watching good television, and spending quality time with my husband and two sons. My husband, Dr. Evan Kerr, is also a veterinarian here at Everhart Veterinary Medicine.
At home, we have two cats, LC and Luna.
Favorite Part of My Job
I very much enjoy establishing strong relationships with my clients and advising them throughout all stages of their pet's lives. I especially value providing compassionate, peaceful, and individualized end-of-life care for each of my patients and their families when the time comes. My favorite areas of veterinary care include dentistry and oral surgery, feline medicine, and soft tissue surgery.
Why I Chose This Profession
I chose this profession because I loved the ability to combine my love of animals, my interest in science and medicine, and my empathy and compassion for people and helping families into one career.
Education
I earned my Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences from the University of Maryland, College Park, where I studied from 2013 to 2017. I then attended the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine from 2017 to 2021, earning my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM). I have also completed extra training in dentistry and dental surgery from the Animal Dental Center, and I am a USDA Accredited Veterinarian, a CAETA Certified Veterinarian for end-of-life and euthanasia care, and Fear Free Certified, all since 2021.
Memberships
I am a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA).
Work History
I started working as a technician at Millersville Animal Hospital from 2009 to 2013. After veterinary school, I worked as a veterinarian at VCA South Arundel from 2021 to 2022 before joining Everhart Veterinary Medicine in 2022, where I have been ever since.
