Dr. Stephanie Menefee
Chief Medical Officer
DVM, CCRP
Hi, my name is Dr. Stephanie Menefee, and I am the Chief Medical Officer and an Associate DVM at Everhart Veterinary Medicine. I am passionate about providing high-quality care and helping my patients feel comfortable and confident in their treatment.
Personal Hobbies and Interests
Outside of work, I like to spend time with my dogs hiking, going to the beach, and reading.
I have three dogs of my own: Sweet Potato (Tater), a two-legged pit bull mix rescued from BARCS who serves as our unofficial hospital mascot; Tink, an 11-year-old pit bull adopted from the SPCA in Annapolis; and Ham Sandwich, a one-year-old pit bull mix adopted from BARCS last year.
Favorite Part of My Job
My favorite part of my job is interacting with clients and teaching them how to care for their animals. I have a special interest in orthopedics and love helping animals get back to their spunky selves. Soft tissue surgery and rehabilitation are also among my favorite areas of veterinary care.
Why I Chose This Profession
Dogs are my favorite animal, and I love being able to help them and their owners.
Education
I completed my undergraduate studies at the University of Maryland, College Park, with a degree in biology and animal sciences. I then attended Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine from 2012 to 2016, earning my veterinary degree. I am also a Certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner (CCRP).
Work History
I started in the veterinary field as a kennel assistant when I was 16 years old and worked throughout college at various animal hospitals in Maryland. Along the way, I spent a summer working at a wildlife refuge in Florida, did research on chickens in college, and milked dairy cows for a winter season. I worked as a technician at Everhart Veterinary Medicine before attending veterinary school, and after graduating in 2016, I returned as a DVM.
