Pain Management

Pain can hinder a pet’s ability to heal from injuries, surgeries, or diseases. Effective pain management is often critical in helping an animal return to full health.

We Know Pain When We See It

Pain can hinder a pet’s ability to heal from injuries, surgeries, or diseases. Effective pain management is often critical in helping an animal return to full health. Our staff is comprised of experts at identifying when an animal is in pain, as they are trained to spot the various signs of discomfort. Acupuncture and laser therapy are two of many modalities Everhart offers in our commitment to keeping your pets happy and comfortable.

Laser Therapy

Everhart has a commitment to help every animal that comes through our doors. We are always eager to adapt when there are new breakthroughs in the world of animal medicine. Laser Therapy is the latest technology in non-invasive pain management for dogs or cats. It is a surgery-free, drug-free, non-invasive treatment to reduce inflammation and speed up healing. We are proud to say that our services include companion laser therapy, which is a versatile option that has many applications.

Common Uses for Laser Therapy

Acute Conditions:

  • Wounds
  • Allergies
  • Infections
  • Cuts/Bites
  • Sprains, Strains, Fractures

Chronic Conditions:

  • Degenerative Joint Disease
  • Arthritis
  • Lick Granulomas
  • Hip Dysplasia
  • Feline Acne
  • Tendonitis
  • Otitis

How does Laser Therapy work?

Laser Therapy increases the release of endorphins which aid in pain relief and reduction of inflammation. The deep, soothing light from the laser targets injured tissues and cells to accelerate repair and growth.

The Benefits of Laser Therapy:

  • A drug-free option
  • Relieves pain, swelling, and many forms of discomfort
  • Improves nerve function
  • Accepted in the industry as being a safe and effective option- no known side effects
  • Leads to faster healing time- wounds heal faster
  • Sedation is not needed
  • Pets don’t mind it

Your Pet’s Laser Therapy Appointment

While a laser therapy appointment is very dependent on the severity of a patient’s condition, they can usually be completed in less than 10 minutes. Although a series of laser therapy treatments are sometimes necessary, one-

time procedures are significantly more common. For example, a single laser therapy appointment may be sufficient in curing an infection. If a dog or a cat is experiencing arthritis, they will likely need a few appointments to alleviate their discomfort.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is the stimulation of specific points on the body to bring about a healing effect. It stimulates nerves, releases neurotransmitters and hormones, increases blood flow, and improves relaxation. It also yields relief from pain, inflammation, and disease symptoms.

Common conditions acupuncture may be appropriate for include:

  • Degenerative joint disease
  • Arthritis
  • Traumatic nerve injury
  • Pain secondary to cancer

Acupuncture needles are so small that they often cause little or no pain, making them a great treatment option for many pets.
