Dealing with Pet Hair Everywhere

Keep a clean home with these clever pet hair removal hacks!

Some pets do not shed much, but many pets (cats and dogs alike) shed throughout the year and have shedding seasons when they switch between their summer and winter coats. While people also shed plenty of hair, pet hair can seem to show up everywhere in your home. If you are dealing with pet hair everywhere, discover these handy pet hair removal tips below.

1. Rubber Brooms for Carpets

Rubber brooms and squeegees are surprisingly useful for removing pet hair from carpets and rugs. They have an anti-static effect and attract pet hair right to them. It’s easy to find rubber brooms for pet hair online or in stores.

2. Electrostatic Mops for Hard Floors

Electrostatic mops are also helpful for removing pet hair and dust, particularly on hard floors. If you don’t have an electrostatic mop, you can also use a damp mop, which will also help dust and hair to stick to it rather than the floor.

3. Dryer Sheets and Damp Cloths

Dryer sheets also have anti-static properties. You can use a dryer sheet or a damp cloth to wipe upholstered furniture, baseboards, and other surfaces, effectively picking up pet hair along the way.

4. Lint Rollers and the Dryer for Clothes

Walking out your front door covered in pet hair is not the best look, but you can remove it with the help of a lint roller, a tried and true tool for removing dust and debris from fabrics. You could also use a lint roller on your bed sheets, curtains, and upholstered furniture.

5. Vacuum Cleaners for Pet Hair

The pet hair removal ideas listed above are mostly handheld tools, but you can also use vacuum cleaners designed with cleaning pet hair in mind. If your pet sheds a lot seasonally or year-round, you could also have a robot vacuum take some of the work off your shoulders.

6. Regular Pet Grooming

Go to the source of the pet hair everywhere with regular pet grooming. Brushing your pet with an effective deshedding tool can be a bonding experience, and bathing periodically can remove more dirt than you realize and alleviate dry, itchy skin.

7. Anti-Static Spray

Anti-static spray for your fabrics and hard surfaces will make pet hair removal easier. Without anything to cling to, your vacuum, rubber mop, or damp cloth can work even better.
